Temat postu: True Religion Crops Outlet Online Ayn Rand and the
The troubles for Heller begin when she deviates from simply telling the story of Rand’s life, to including lengthy and factually inaccurate reviews of Rand’s works. While many of the errors encountered by this reviewer were minor, such as Heller’s mistaken assertion that the “forbidden” word in Rand’s work Anthem [Signet, 1961] was “I” when in fact, the unspeakable word, revealed as the final word in the story is “Ego”, these errors begin to cast doubt upon facts uncovered by Heller which can not be corroborated.
While Heller’s work certainly has its place in the Ayn Rand lexicon, particularly in regard to Rand’s early years, the errors and biased opinions littering the book make it difficult for a true admirer of Rand’s, or someone intimately familiar with her work to swallow.
Large sections of Heller’s book are devoted to dissecting the works and novels of Rand, such as We the Living [Signet, 1936], The Fountainhead [The Bobs-Merrill Company, 1943] and Atlas Shrugged [Signet, 1957]. These reviews offer the reader nothing which he might not have discovered for himself by reading the books, and are full of Heller’s opinion of the books,

, as well as Rand’s state of mind while writing them.
The biography begins promisingly with details about young Alyssa Rosenbaum, Rand’s childhood name, her family and her schooling. Some information obtained by Heller has been corroborated by previously published works, such as Barbara Branden’s The Passion of Ayn Rand [Doubleday, 1986] and the published Letters of Ayn Rand [Plume, 1995] which helps lend an air of authenticity to the early pages of Heller’s biography.

Fluctuating Tone
The reviews of the book are intermingled with a mangled timeline of Rand’s life at the time in which she was writing them. The years flash backwards and forwards along with the corresponding sections of the books Heller is discussing.
While at times the biography could seem compelling, Heller’s widely fluctuating tone leaves the reader in a constant state of wondering whether Heller is praising Rand, or criticizing her,

, sometimes within the same paragraph, about the same event. This is where Heller’s opinion of Rand begins to interfere with her ability to thoroughly cover Rand’s life, leaving readers feeling cold.
As one member of the Boston Objectivist Network mentioned in conversation with Suite101, “[He was] looking forward to reading a biography of Rand not written by an Objectivist, but by someone who may be able to give a more unbiased view of her life.” Unfortunately, this biography of Rand does not deliver on that point.
One of the most interesting features in this biography is the new information uncovered by Heller about Rand’s youth in Russia. As Heller was denied access to the archives at the Ayn Rand Institute (ARI) much of the information she obtained of the years prior to Rand’s coming to America was not previously part of public record, and helped to clear up some myths about the author and philosopher which she herself may have generated.
With today’s fluctuating economy, writer and philosopher Ayn Rand’s works are selling rapidly and gaining new popularity. With this comes two new biographies of the founder of objectivism,
