Prediction: Alabama win 31-14.
This game will be decided in the trenches. South Carolina will be looking to put pressure on first-year QB Aaron Murray forcing him into mistakes. Since Georgia will be without Green,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], expect Mark Richt to counter by running the ball behind his massive offensive line. Whoever wins this battle will win the game.

If FSU wants to win the game,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they will have to stop DeMarco Murray. He rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns last week, and he has no intentions of slowing down this season. The best way to stop Murray is to not let him on the field. FSU’s running game is pretty good with Jermaine Thomas and back-up Ty Jones. If the Seminoles can pound out some long drives on the ground, they might keep this a close game heading into the 4th Quarter.

Despite a lackluster performance last week against Utah State, Oklahoma is a powerful team. They are also 67-2 at home under Bob Stoops with the last loss being to TCU in the 2005 season opener. The Sooners are as close to a lock at home as you can get.
Oklahoma vs. Florida State. Enthusiasm is high in Tallahassee right now. The Seminoles claim they are back under first-year head coach Jimbo Fisher. They will get the chance to prove it against the Sooners. This game is also a little more interesting considering the Seminoles’ DC is Mark Stoops.

The series has featured a lot of offense recently, and that should continue. Denard Robinson was phenomenal against the Huskies passing for 186 yards and rushing for 197 yards. Rodriguez will drive his workhorse again this week. Notre Dame’s ability to control Robinson will go a long way in determining the outcome.

Notre Dame vs. Michigan. This is a huge rivalry game. The Fighting Irish and the Wolverines are both coming off back to back sub-par seasons. Rodriguez took some heat off his back last week by getting a resounding win over UConn, but it will be back if Michigan loses this game. Kelly got a big win over Purdue in his debut as the Irish head coach, but beating Michigan will be more significant in the eyes of the Notre Dame faithful. It might be too early to call this a must win for either team, but the winner will definitely be on track for a successful season.
South Carolina vs. Georgia. With Florida looking vulnerable in their season opener, the winner of this early SEC East showdown has an inside track of winning the division. The Gamecocks and the Bulldogs were both impressive last week, and this figures to be a bruising game. Georgia has won four out of the last five in the series,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but all except one was decided by a touchdown or less. This might be the game of the week.

Prediction: Mild upset - Michigan 38-31.
Prediction: Oregon 34-20. NFL players occasionally will petition the NFL to allow them to wear a number that is not in line with the numbering system. Brad Van Pelt who is a linebacker who entered the NFL in 1973 with the New York Giants, wore number 10 during his 11 seasons with the club despite not being covered by the grandfather clause. New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush petitioned the NFL to let him keep the number 5 which he used at USC in 2006 but was later denied.
The bigger issue for Penn State is its pass defense. Last week against Youngstown State, the Lions allowed the Penguins to go 21/25 for 189 yards and two TD’s. If Penn State has any chance of pulling the upset, the defensive line will have to put pressure McElroy and the secondary must contain Jones and Maze. These are both unlikely. All three will have big games.

Oregon vs. Tennessee. On paper, this looks like a lopsided game. The Volunteers have not won a big non-conference game since 2006, and they are in a rebuilding year under new HC Derek Dooley. Oregon is the PAC 10 favorite, and they looked the part last week thrashing New Mexico 72-0. Most think Oregon wins this game pretty easily. Think again.

Oregon is travelling across the country which is always difficult. A night game in Knoxville in front of 103,000 fans will also be a challenge. Tennessee has a decent rushing attack, and the key to victory for them will be controlling the ball to keep the Ducks’ offense off the field. The Vols will hang around for the first half, but the Ducks will adjust and pull away in the third quarter.

Prediction: Florida 31-21
The NFL banned substances policy has been acclaimed by some and criticized by others,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the policy is the longest running in American professional sports, beginning in 1987. The current policy of the NFL suspends players without pay who test positive for banned substances as it has since 1989 4 games for the first offense eight games for a second offense, and 12 months for a third offense. The suspended games may be either regular season games or playoff games. With several high profile games on the docket featuring ranked teams, anticipation is high heading into week two. The build up is sometimes stronger than the actual games, but this year might be different. Florida State is better, Georgia and South Carolina are veteran teams, Notre Dame and Michigan are both seeking 2-0 starts to the season and Tennessee is looking to prove they are still relevant in college football. Here is a break down for some of the top games.

Prediction: Georgia 24-21.

Florida vs. South Florida. Before last week’s game against Miami University, this looked like a manageable game for the Gators. Now it appears to be a toss up. The Gators inexperience was clearly evident in the season opener,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but Meyer will have them ready to play. They are upset alert though.
The Irish will counter with their impressive QB Dayne Crist. In his first game as a starter, Crist went 19/26 for 205 yards and a TD. He will be looking to get the ball to Michael Floyd early and often. If the Irish get big plays from this duo, they will win the game.
First-year HC Skip Holtz collected his first win against Stony Brook last week. B.J. Daniels was impressive for the Bulls passing for 264 yards and two TD’s. He is quick,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Holtz will move him around in the pocket to keep the Gators’ fast defense off-balance. If Daniels can make some big plays, the Bulls might pull the upset.
Alabama vs. Penn State. These two titans collide for the first time since 1990. Bama owns the series edge, but none of that means anything this year. Bama is ranked #1 and is a huge favorite against the young PSU squad.
It is understandable that most of the discussion has been on how the Nittany Lions can come into Tuscaloosa and compete when they are starting a freshman QB. Saban is a defensive genius, and most expect his team to whip Rob Bolden around like a rag doll. End of story.

Prediction: Oklahoma wins 38-31
