Blair extols vocationalism: but mere words not enough

University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has invited schools to have their say on how they would like the qualification to be developed. As the plans stand at the moment, students taking the diploma would study three international A-levels, one AS-level, and a curriculum extension option,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which could involve more difficult questions focusing on critical thinking or extended essays and would stretch students to a standard closer to university level. The exclusionThe head teacher wrote to the parents of R and F telling them that neither R nor F could come back to school, but that they would be given help in completing their course at home. He should, of course, have told the parents immediately, ideally by telephone followed by a letter, of their right to make representations to the governing body.
