Talking Calculators
A talking calculator has a built in speech synthesizer that reads aloud the numbers and operation signs that are displayed on the screen. This can help students with disabilities that affect their math skills such as dyscalculia. A student with a talking calculator still has to do all the work. They have to input the numbers and the signs that correlate with the problem they are solving. The calculator just makes comprehending the numbers and operations a little easier. If a child inputs a number that looks right and hears that it is actually wrong can go back and correct his or her mistake.
Technology has a place in the classroom of a special needs child.
