While in this position take the string end with your left hand and give the string a 90 degree turn away from the guitar and around the tuner. Take your string winder and place it on the tuning peg & while holding the string feed the guitar string to the tuner while winding the peg. Make a few revolutions around the peg and guide the string so that you cross over the string on the tuning peg this will lock the string tightly on the post. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
One method is to string your guitar one string at a time. This will keep all the tension on the neck and will not kill the tone. That happens when you remove all the strings at once and lose the tone for a couple hours after you restring. Loosen all the strings with a winder several revolutions then clip it with cutters. Use the bridge pin removal on the winder and carefully remove the pins. If your fingerboard is dirty now is the time to wipe the neck down.
Tools needed are an electronic tuner Korg makes a great tuner) and a string winder with a peg puller and clipper. There are a few different ways of changing guitar strings. This is a quick and efficient technique. If strings are not properly put on your guitar, it could develop poor intonation [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it will be hard to tune or the strings could break. With the cost of good acoustic strings being around 20.00 for a set this could be costly.
Taking the stretch out of the new strings will ensure your guitar ready to go and will stay in tune. If the guitar sound dead then this most often means that the winding of the bass strings are filled with dirt. Be sure to pick quality guitar strings when shopping for new ones. There is no sense having a quality guitar and playing on old strings. It would be like buying old tires for a new car. Once you get the hang of restringing your guitar, it will be one maintenance procedure that will keep you playing up to par and sounding sweet.
D' Addario [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Elixir or Martin Guitar Strings
Start with the E string insert the bridge pin and while pressing down on the top of the bridge pin with your thumb pull the string up with the other hand until the ball end of the string is snug up against the bridge pin. Now insert the other end of the string through the hole in the tuner and while you do this insert your other hand midway between the bridge and tuner like you are karate chopping the fingerboard with this string overtop of this hand. This will give you just the right amount of slack in the string to give it a good overlap on the tuner.
This cross over technique can be done once or twice on the smaller gauge strings. Turn the electronic tuner on and tune string up to the E note. You can turn the tuner up ½ tone higher and then come back down. This will remove as much stretch as soon as possible. Take a clipper and clip off the end of the guitar string to about a ¼ inch from the tuner peg.

The Cross Over Technique
The first 3 strings E, B, G wrap clockwise and the lower 3 D, A and E wrap counter clockwise. Follow the same procedure with the other 5 strings. With the strings tuned ½ tones sharp firmly grasp the guitar string at the midpoint on the finger board and pull straight up away from the fingerboard several times. This will tighten up any slack left at the bridge pins and will also remove a lot of the string stretch which comes with new strings.
