A few weeks ago, I asked my goldfish what his final dream was. Boy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], was I in for a surprise! His eyes glowing with passion, he replied that he would absolutely adore to explore ... the sea. Oh, he'd never set foot there―in fact, as you would anticipate, he doesn't even have a foot! But he just finished reading a paperback about the Great Barrier Reef, in Australia, and immediately he's obsessed with it. He went on and on about it and then,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with a definite bitterness in his voice, he started groaning. He said the fake coral reef I had bought for his aquarium was tacky compared to the real ones he saw in the pictures. He complained likewise about the water purifier (so noisy it troubles his sleep, distinctly). My little friend sure had a heavy heart! I never dreamed his little body could hold so many frustration ...
Overflowing with pity, I resolved to make him an offer. “Bubble,” I told him tenderly, “I deem your dream can come true, and I want to help. Here's what we'll do. I'll take you to the Great Barrier Reef, where the corals are understood to be the prettiest, and once we find a truly fine spot, I'll let you go free. The sea will be your new family.” Enthusiastic, elated of myself (and a tiny sad because, at last, I would miss him), I waited for his response.
Silence.
Deep silence.
After five quite long seconds, believe it alternatively not, he started swimming vigorously towards the counterfeit coral reef he just denigrated, and he hid back it! I could listen him spout his worries, panicked. Many words were inaudible, but here's what I caught, “What if the ocean evaporates? Do they have a water purifier in the Great Barrier Reef? If the water becomes stagnant and noxious, I'll die! Where will I sleep? Who will feed me?” I'll spare you his monologue about sharks; I think you obtain the idea.
Terribly human
Besides the truth that he can speak, peruse and muse, I wouldn't say my fish namely exceptional. He's merely terribly human. Don't we feel stuck in our aquariums as well, periodically? And aren't we tired of swimming in small surrounds, behind a when? Just like Bubble, our heads are crammed with ideas and projects, and our hearts are full of hope. And just like him, surprisingly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we constantly opt as the solace of our old limitations, prefer than as the chance apt craft the life of our dreams.
Let's face it: nothing wants to feel frustrated or unfulfilled. We ALL aspire to dive into a turquoise ocean, to activity with dolphins, to detect buried treasures and to be circled by the most spectacular corals. This lust, this absence, is written elsewhere in our heart, in our DNA. So if we nay to get out of our aquariums,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's not because we are masochists or because stagnant water has leaked in between our ears; it's because it represents, to us,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the inferior ache. Our dreams are fantastic―at fewest, the brochure is impressive! But they are in UNKNOWN territories. Who knows what we'll find there. Sharks? Giant squids? Hmmmm ... we'd rather keep our daily annoyances; they are safe, familiar and extremely predictable. And it's terribly human to lean towards what is versed.
The sharks
Let's go behind to Bubble for a minute. Some of his worries were variety of odd. Had you noticed? He feared the ocean would disappear; he was cared approximately the absence of a water purifier ... Who could reprove him? He'd never been in the sea, so he indeed presumed a number of entities. Just like us. When we attempt someone new, when we open a gate, we can IMAGINE what's aboard the other side, but our prophecies are necessarily bad. The statutes of the ocean are alter from the decrees of the aquarium, and we can only figure them out once we're there.
Obviously, some dangers are very real. Ah, the noted Great White sharks! Just preoccupied about them can mail chills down our backbone. Tell me, what are YOUR sharks? What ferocious animals live in your dreams? It's imperative you identify them and confront them NOW, because the fears we don't face amplify every feasible threat. If you have a goal, and you REALLY want to be successful, take a moment and write down
