DAVIE — [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] hasn't been getting the ball as much as the Dolhins would like - with their new star receiver catching just one touchdown in their first seven games - but [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] said Tuesday he would welcome Randy Moss joining Miami even if it further limits [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]'s opportunies.
The Dolphins (4-3) currently have the No. 18 waiver priority. While many of the league's worst teams likely won't put in a claim, the Dolphins should be worried about San Diego (10th), Arizona (11th), St. Louis (13th), Oakland (14th), Washington (15th), Seattle (16th) and Chicago (17th) picking in front of them.
Cornerback Will Allen, out for the year with a knee injury, agreed with Hartline on the same radio appearance. Allen raised concerns about Moss' character. In addition to Moss' bizarre rant after Sunday's loss to New England, in which he ignored his own team and continually praised his former Patriots coaches and teammates, Moss also embarrassed the Vikings last Friday by loudly complaining about food that was served at a team function, according to reports by Yahoo Sports and the begin St. Paul Pioneer-Press. Moss allegedly shouted that he wouldn't serve the food to his dog and used several expletives, with the caterer in the room.
But while Moss - who has 313 yards and five touchdowns this year with the New England Patriots and the Vikings - is still an elite deep threat, not every Dolphin player thinks Moss is a good fit.
The Dolphins, though, may need a lot of dominoes to fall in order for Moss, 33, to land in Miami. Teams have until 4 p.m. today to submit a waiver claim, and the team with the highest priority (i.e. the team with the worst record) will have to claim Moss, add him to their roster, and be forced to pay the rest of his $6.5 million salary (about $3.44 million).
Miami Dolphins' [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] says he'd welcome playing with Randy Moss
"You've got Brandon on one side, Randy on the other, and you're going to have two high safeties the entire game,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Ricky (Williams) and Ronnie (Brown) should eat everyone alive." [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Moss was not the only high-profile player to hit the waiver wire on Tuesday. The Chargers officially released outside linebacker Shawne Merriman, a three-time Pro Bowler who has notched just four sacks since 2007 because of myriad knee, foot and calf injuries. The Dolphins likely won't claim Merriman off waivers, and be forced to pay him the balance of his 2010 salary (about $1.7 million), but if he clears waivers, the Dolphins could take a look.
"Let's go. Let's get him, let's get him, let's go get him.," [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] said in his weekly radio segment on WQAM Tuesday, the same day Moss was officially waived by the Vikings. "I don't know what we'll do, but I welcome him with open arms.
But despite rampant reports and speculations about where Moss will end up, his agent said Tuesday afternoon that he had no idea which team would eventually claim his client.
"We have such a young group that he can teach us how to be pros and how to be better, so I would love for that to happen," [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] said. "He brings something special to the team, and he's one of the best."

If no team claims Moss today - doubtful, but still possible given his personality issues - the Vikings will be on the hook for his entire salary, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] and Moss will be free to sign with any team.
"Obviously he's a great talent, but I don't know how well he would fit in down here," Allen said. "Will it take away from the chemistry they're trying to build here? This part of the season, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] I don't think you could bring a guy in and expect him to mesh with everybody and jell."
"If we are missing a piece, that's not the piece we're missing. We're already having enough trouble trying to get the ball to everybody as it is." [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
"We're going to let the waiver process play itself out, see who claims Randy," agent Joel Segal said on ESPN Radio. "Obviously there's a number of clubs who could use Randy. I don't know at this time who it's going to be." [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Hartline doesn't doubt, though, that Moss' big-play potential could open up the field for the other playmakers on offense.
"I don't think that an addition of Randy Moss necessarily changes our team a whole lot," receiver Brian Hartline said on a WQAM appearance.
