Chaos theory is defined in the scientific community as the study of complex nonlinear dynamic systems. Here, nonlinear refers to higher mathematical operators and algorithms, and dynamic refers to something which is non-constant, or ever changing. To those of us who are not highly evolved in the spirituality of mathematics, chaos theory is simply put as the study of systems which are constantly changing, and therefore possess an element of unpredictability.
Let us imagine a butterfly flitting around in a forest in Indonesia. Then imagine a tornado sweeping through the Caribbean islands a little while later. While these two phenomena may seem completely disconnected, according to a certain mathematical hypothesis, they could very well share a definite link.
According to the chaos theory, the tiny air current generated by a flapping of the butterfly’s wings could decide the existence of the tornado. So the twister wreaking havoc on the other side of the world might never have happened if that butterfly in Indonesia had not been flitting around the flowers. Sounds unbelievable? Welcome to the world of chaos.

What is the Butterfly Effect?
Going by that example, let the tornado – which is formed from millions of tiny waves – be the card castle, and that delicate flutter of the butterfly’s wings be that lone card which spelled its doom. Just as the card castle crumbled, so too would the tornado be triggered into action by the wind current produced by the butterfly. While this illustration is an extremely simplified version, it does give the reader an idea of the concept behind it.
Funnily enough, the first true experimenter in chaos was a meteorologist Air Jordan 5 V, Edward Lorenz. While working on the problem of predicting the weather, he attempted to tune his computer in to the nuances of weather prediction, with a set of twelve equations to predict the weather. This computer program, though unable to predict the exact weather conditions Jordan 5 V, came up with a theoretical analysis of what the weather might be.
Understanding the Butterfly Effect
Let’s take the case of the butterfly. The air current created by its wings is an infinitesimally small one. The tornado, on the other hand, is billions of times greater in intensity. Consider now an example of a card castle painstakingly constructed, which has reached a truly impressive height. And then, one single card later, it comes crashing down. That’s all it takes to destroy that towering structure. One single card.
Origin of the Chaos Theory
Much later, while trying to find a certain sequence, Lorenz found that the values he fed into the computer based on the printouts he had taken at the time of running the program didn’t necessarily bring out the same sequence as the original. Instead, the deviations cheap jordan shoes, though tiny, produced a drastic change in the final outcome. And the chaos theory was born. Subsequently, several other mathematicians have put forward their own arguments about the nature of chaos.
In the mathematical world, this phenomenon is also known as a sensitive dependence on initial conditions. That is, a tiny change in the initial conditions could drastically affect the long-term behavior
The Lorenz Attractor, introduced by Edward Lorenz, is a fractal structure derived from equations describing certain atmospheric phenomena. The Lorenz Attractor plays an important role in nonlinear mathematics. It also plays a part in climate and weather predictions. Later, it was proved that for a certain set of parameters, it exhibits chaotic behavior and has a dimension between 2 and 3.
